The association began in 1986 and was incorporated in 1995 as the NORTHEAST INDIANA PARALEGAL ASSOCIATION, also known as NIPA. NIPA serves paralegals in northeast Indiana. NIPA is a member of the National Federation of Paralegal Associations (“NFPA”), the largest and oldest paralegal association, with more than 15,000 members in the United States and Canada. NIPA was organized to promote paralegal growth through education, networking opportunities and its Job Bank. NIPA also promotes paralegals and the profession to the public and the legal community. NIPA is also a member of the Indiana Alliance of Paralegal Associations that was established to deal with issues affecting paralegals in Indiana.
